Born in Kandy, Priyangani learnt how to create Batik through a Government programme in 2011, which she participated in through the women's union in her town. After going on to teach, she was chosen through this programme to be a trainer. After establishing her business ‘Darshi Batik’ and hiring 5 employees, with the support of her husband, she decided to establish an online presence even receiving international orders. She continued to sell her catalog of tablecloths, dresses, wall hangers, sarongs, sarees, blouses, Lungis and shawls at physical marketplaces in Colombo and Kandy. She has dreams of growing her business to employ more people from her community and reach more parts of the world.
